How Homa Appliances is using artificial intelligence, robotics and digitalisation to strengthen production efficiency, quality and global OEM competitiveness.

In the global home appliance industry, competitiveness is no longer defined by scale alone.

Manufacturing excellence is increasingly shaped by the ability to connect automation, artificial intelligence, digitalisation, product quality and organisational speed.

As reported by Yicai Global in May 2025, home appliance manufacturers in Guangdong are accelerating the use of artificial intelligence to strengthen their industrial capabilities and international competitiveness.

In the article, Michael Yao, CEO of Homa Appliances, underlines that accelerating the use of AI and robots is one of the company’s priorities for driving corporate transformation. The same article highlights how the integration of AI and robotics is helping Homa improve productivity, optimise manufacturing processes and bring production efficiency to one of the highest levels in the industry.

For Homa, this is not only a matter of efficiency.

It is part of a broader industrial evolution in which the factory becomes a strategic platform: a place where quality, flexibility, speed, premiumisation and reliability are continuously improved through innovation.

Homa Factory N°9 expresses this direction clearly. Designed for premium no-frost models, it combines automation, digitalisation and energy efficiency not as isolated technologies, but as part of an evolved manufacturing philosophy. AI vision systems, AGVs and digital twin solutions show how production, quality control, logistics, energy management and security can become part of the same intelligent industrial ecosystem. This evolution is also aligned with McKinsey’s long-standing analysis of the factory of the future, where automation and robotics become central to how companies redesign manufacturing performance.

This is what gives advanced OEM manufacturing its new strategic value. The factory is no longer only where products are assembled. It is where industrial intelligence becomes visible: in the way materials move, quality is checked, energy is managed, products are refined and reliability is delivered to global partners.

As Federico Rebaudo, General Manager of Homa Europe, observes, “modern OEM manufacturing is no longer only about assembling products. The factory is becoming an operating platform where industrial intelligence, market adaptation and product value are continuously tested”.

This confirms a broader strategic reading: China should not be seen only as a manufacturing base or a market, but as a pressure ecosystem where automation, industrial speed and operating models are continuously tested.

This direction is particularly relevant for OEM refrigeration.

Brands and retailers increasingly need industrial partners able to combine cost competitiveness with product quality, digital tools, manufacturing stability and the ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions.

In this context, AI, robotics and digitalisation are not abstract innovation themes. They are practical levers to strengthen the value that Homa can offer to its global partners. This direction is consistent with broader manufacturing trends: according to Deloitte’s 2025 Smart Manufacturing and Operations Survey, 92% of manufacturers surveyed believe smart manufacturing will be the main driver of competitiveness over the next three years.

From advanced production lines to digitalised business processes, Homa continues to invest in the transformation of its manufacturing ecosystem.

The future of OEM manufacturing will not be built only on capacity; it will be built on intelligent capacity.
