As we conclude the monumental 100th edition of IFA, the world's largest consumer electronics show, we can't help but feel a sense of pride. This celebration has offered us more than just a glimpse into the future. We've spent five intense days in Berlin, engaging deeply with our team of nearly 50 experts from R&D, marketing, and commerce.

These days were not just about observing trends but about studying innovations, discussing ideas, and interacting with key partners in the industry.

As a pure OEM manufacturer, we continue to view IFA as a consumer-facing event and a strategic hub for shaping future technologies and partnerships. While not visible through a booth (as a B2B player, our official presence in a consumer fair is not logical), our involvement remains critical in driving innovation and creating value behind the scenes for our partners. This article thoughtfully reflects on those days and the innovations that will shape the future of the consumer electronics industry.

The Centenary of Innovation: IFA 2024 Unveils the Future of Consumer Electronics
IFA 2024 again set the stage as the world's largest consumer electronics and home appliances exhibition. With over 1,800 global exhibitors and 180,000 visitors from 139 countries, the fair underscored its place as a critical platform for showcasing technological advancements. This year was particularly significant, marking the 100th edition of the trade fair—a centenary that celebrates IFA's continued leadership in shaping the future of the electronics industry.
From its beginnings in 1924, IFA has consistently been a launchpad for groundbreaking innovations. The 2024 edition promised to be no different, spotlighting the definitive rise of artificial intelligence (AI)—a technology that is now woven into nearly every corner of the consumer electronics space.

The Rise of AI: A New Era of Smart Living
In recent years, AI has transitioned from speculative technology to an integral part of everyday life. IFA 2024 highlights this shift, with artificial intelligence emerging as a core component of modern electronics, not just adding novelty but delivering solutions that enhance lives. For example, the AI revolution in home appliances demonstrates the potential for significant energy savings alongside improved functionality, benefiting consumers with smarter, more efficient products and signalling a new era of smart and sustainable living.
However, this is just the beginning. As the industry continues to explore AI's vast potential, it's clear no single application will define the future. Instead, AI is set to become a ubiquitous, indispensable feature across consumer electronics. From intelligent kitchen appliances to smart home ecosystems, AI is poised to redefine how we interact with technology in our daily lives.

Sexy, Sensible, and Sustainable: The New Age of Home Appliances
Home appliances are experiencing a resurgence, becoming "sexy" again—not just through design but through meaningful innovations. IFA 2024 showcased how sleeker, innovative, and energy-efficient appliances appeal to a discerning consumer base that values practicality and function. The days of superficial technology seem to be behind us, with manufacturers now focused on creating solutions that respond to real consumer needs.
Technological developments such as the widespread adoption of the Matter standard for home devices and the integration of WiFi 7 highlight this shift for seamless communication between devices. In contrast, WiFi 7 enhances connectivity by increasing speed and reducing latency, enabling the smooth operation of multiple devices at once. The future of connected living is not just promising but already within reach.

Consumer Electronics Championing Health and Sustainability
A key trend that emerged at IFA 2024 is the evolution of sustainability. Today's consumers demand more than energy efficiency—they seek eco-friendly products across their entire lifecycle. The industry has embraced the concept of the 3Rs—reduce, recycle, and reuse—leading to the creation of products designed with longevity and sustainability in mind.
Yet sustainability is no longer synonymous with sacrifice. Today, it also encompasses comfort and wellbeing, with manufacturers developing products that improve quality of life practically—through quieter operations, healthier environments, or more competent, more efficient food consumption.
The focus on health is clear: appliances that reduce food waste, preserve nutrients and optimise energy use. As sustainability becomes a more holistic concept, consumer electronics are increasingly geared towards promoting environmental responsibility and personal wellbeing.

A Bright Future: Innovation for Human Progress
IFA 2024 marks a turning point in the relationship between technology and human needs. Innovation is no longer a mere exercise in showcasing technological prowess; it is now about creating meaningful progress. The future of consumer electronics places the human experience at its centre, enhancing daily life in intelligent, thoughtful ways.
There is a clear parallel between the themes we saw earlier this year at Milano's Salone del Mobile, where design and sustainability intersected to improve our living spaces. At IFA, that same vision echoed, with AI intelligently expanding our potential.

After years of flashy but fleeting innovations, we finally see a balance between technology and purpose.

IFA 2024 signals a new era in which innovation is not just about spectacle but about genuine progress towards improving the quality of life.
